H.E. the Ambassador presents certificate of commendation to Mr. Hironobu Takane, President of Rotary Club of Hiroo Tokyo on 7th March, 2013.

The Rotary Club of Hiroo Tokyo held their regular meeting at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo on 7th March, 2013 from 12:30pm. The meeting was graced by H.E. Ambassador Benson H. O. Ogutu as a keynote speaker.

The Rotary Club of Hiroo Tokyo had been undertaking community development activities in Kenya through their support to international Water Projects – IWP, a Japanese nonprofit organization involves in provision of fresh and clean water in rural communities in Kenya using Kazusabori Technology (a Japanese original and unique technology of digging deep water wells by hand). The Club has hitherto solely funded construction of fourteen (14) wells in Kenya in the past five (5) years.

In his remarks, the Ambassador focused on the community development challenges in Kenya and the Government's efforts, as well as the efforts of the friends like the Rotarians, in addressing those challenges. He underscored Constituency Development Funds, rural electrification, youth enterprise development fund and women enterprise fund as some of the successful projects the Government had put in place to empower communities.

The Ambassador thanked the Club for their immense support on provision of fresh and clean water and also welcomed them to venture into other community based projects aimed at empowering the youths and even women to be self reliant and reliable people in the community.
