On 24th April, 2013, H.E. Amb. Ogutu and Mr. Matsushima Director, Managing Chief Executive, Itochu, graced the first anniversary of the Eco-Shop, Pavilion at Kidzania, Tokyo.

The Eco Shop Pavilion is a theme park where children can experience conservation activities while utilizing the know-how on environmental education accumulated through the global environmental "MOTTAINAI Campaign".

Environmentally themed activities are normally held approximately after every four months and for every child who participates, the amount equivalent to the cost of one tree sapling is donated to the Green Belt Movement Foundation. The Movement which is based in Kenya, was founded by the world renowned environmentalist and Nobel Peace Lauret, the late Professor Wangari Maathai.
Since its establishment in 1977, the movement has extended its reach across the world to advocate on climate change, the importance of Africa's rainforests in the Congo, and initiated the Mottainai Campaign that advocates for Environmental 3Rs of: Reduce, Re-use and Recycle. The Movement has also partnered with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) in its Billion tree planting campaign among other environmental conservation activities.

The Kidzania initiative is intended to provide opportunities for participating children to familiarize themselves with global environmental issues. Itochu Corporation has been operating as official sponsor of the Eco Shop Pavilion since April 2012. It has also been an avid supporter of the Mottainnai Campaign here in Japan and Kenya.
