The Omori Kaisoten, LTD., a Japanese International Freight Forwarding Company has announced the launch of a the Less than a Container load shipping service or LCL for goods destined to Kenya, Tanzania Uganda and Rwanda using the Ports of Mombasa and Dar- es- Salaam.
This was recently revealed on 17th February 2014, when Mr. Masahiro Hamada, the company's Corporate Officer visited the Embassy accompanied by Mr. Yasuaki Nakamura of their Global Logistics & Development Division. The Omori Kaisoten which was established in 1873 as a forwarding and shipping agent in Kobe Port started the new LCL service (Less than Container Lord) through their consolidation Services for East African Cargo.

Mr. Hamada expressed the hope that East African businesses would support his new business line trusting in their long experience in the area of customs clearance, import/export formalities, warehousing and delivery, distribution processing and international transport. The Omori Kaisoten business network covers Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe where the Omori Kaisoten utilizes the port's cargo handling facilities, material handling equipment and trailers/trucks for import/export cargo operations as well as customs clearance. The Omori consolidated ocean transport handles cargo of various type ranging from project cargo to small-lot cargo including used car / car parts, machinery and small items such as equipment, chemicals packs, medicines, household goods destined to Africa. The representatives of the Company assured the Embassy that the Company can handle LCL items from any of the five big Japanese ports namely Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe for goods destined to Mombasa, Kenya for distribution throughout the East African region. The Embassy hopes that this kind of service will be able to enhance international trade between Japan and East Africa.
