H.E. Ambassador Benson Ogutu gives a key note speech at the opening Show in Tokyo

The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), in partnership with five (5) travel companies from the private sector, are participating in a four (4) city tourism Roadshow in Japan from 14th -17th , April, 2014. The sequence of the Road show is as follows: 14th April -Tokyo, 15th April- Nagoya, 16th April- Osaka and 17th April -Fukuoka.

The five private companies represented include: Atua Enkop Africa, Africa Adventure Safaris (Wild Cats), Shades of Africa Travel, Silverbird Travel Plus, and Skyhub Travel Without Borders(H.I.S Ltd Kenya).

The Objective of the Magical Kenya Road show is to promote Kenya as a high value tourist destination offering diverse, memorable and magical experiences among the Japanese travel trade. The Road show also provides a business networking forum for both the Japanese and Travel trade.

Japan is currently Kenya's third largest source of market in Asia after India and China. Over the last three years, the Japanese visitor numbers to Kenya has gradually increased by 15 % from over 10,000 in 2010 to over 14,000 in 2012, and it is hoped to keep improving. The market is now considered as one of the key source markets with the potential to boost Kenya's total tourist arrivals to the envisaged 3million pax by 2017. The Kenya Tourism Board is undertaking several measures to stimulate more customer demands in Japan towards this cause.

His Excellency, Ambassador Benson Ogutu, graced the grand opening of the Road show in Tokyo as the Chief Guest. He thanked the travel trade for their continued support and cooperation in promoting Kenya's tourism in Japan and further encouraged the them to capitalize on measures being undertaken by KTB and the Government of Kenya in increasing Kenya's visibility and market Share in the Japanese market.
