Transfer of Road Transport Department Services of Kenya Revenue Authority to National Transport & Safety Authority

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) wishes to inform members of the public that following the establishment of NTSA through the NTSA Act of December, 2012 by the Government, NTSA has formally taken over the following functions that previously were performed by the Road Transport Department (RTD) under KRA effective 1st July 2014.

NTSA is now responsible for:

i) Registration of motor vehicles and trailers
ii) Licensing of motor vehicles and trailers
iii) Licensing of drivers and conductors
iv) Motor vehicles and drivers records.
v) Licensing of driving schools and instructors
vi) Transfer of motor vehicle ownership
vii) Issuance of duplicate registration books and driving licenses.
viii) Issuance of motor vehicles copy of records.

Whereas the above services specified in the NTSA Act were moved to NTSA, revenue collection pertaining to the above will remain with KRA.

In light of these changes, communication touching on the above functions including but not limited to; court orders, caveats, police bonds, tape-lift reports and service delivery should be addressed to:
