ome of the Invited Conference Keynote Speakers

On 29th October, 2015, the Kenya Embassy in Japan in collaboration with, the Kenyans in Japan Association (KIJA), and Keio Business School held a successful Kenya Diaspora Investment Conference at the Keio Business School Hiyoshi.

The forum which attracted at least 150 participants brought together prospective investors from Japan, Japanese investors with experience in Kenya, influential captains of Japanese industries in various sectors, Kenyan Diaspora community in Japan, and key industry stakeholders from the Government of Kenya and Japan.

Amongst the invited speakers from Kenya included: Hon. Dr. Alfred Mutua, Governor -Machakos County; Amb. Benson H. O. Ogutu, Political & Diplomatic Secretary- Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade; Dr. Reuben Mutiso, Chairman-Konza Technopolis Development Authority; Prof Gituro Wainaina, Ag' Director Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat Board; and Mr. Geoffrey Odundo, Chief Executive Officer of Nairobi Securities Exchange.

The forum's focus was on promoting business development and investment between Kenya and Japan by marketing Kenya as the ideal gateway to Eastern and Central region. It is hoped that this kind of ventures would increase Business and Investment exchanges between Japan and Kenya in pursuit of realization of vision 2030 and strengthened economic ties in general.

In view of the upcoming TICAD VI Summit which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, the Conference was an excellent Precursor to the Summit which will provide a critical platform to take stock of progress made on investment partnerships.

The KIJA Afro- East Investment Club took this opportunity to hold follow-up meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Nairobi Securities Exchange; Mr. Geoffrey Odundo, and Chief Executive Officer of Choice Microfinance, Mr. Stanley Kasyoka, on 31st October, 2015 at the Embassy. The two CEOs highlighted the initiatives they are undertaking in Kenya and available investment opportunities for the Diaspora/ club members.
