Amb. S. K. Maina, MBS makes presentation on Preparations by the Government of Kenya for TICAD VI Summit

On 27th May 2016, His Excellency Amb. S. K Maina joined other dignitaries as a speaker for the Nikkei Global Strategy Forum on "Future cooperation between Africa and Japan." The event was co-organized by Nikkei Incl. and Nikkei Business Publication as part of the series events towards TICAD VI Summit scheduled to be held in Nairobi Kenya between 27th – 28th August, 2016.

Other speakers for the forum included Amb. Norio Maruyama, Director General- Africa Bureau –Japanese Foreign Ministry; Mr. Yutaka Kase, Co-Chairman, Sub-Saharan Africa Committee-Keidanren; H. E. Mr. Estifanos Afeworki, Ambassador of the State of Eritrea, and Dean Africa Diplomatic Corps; H.E. Mr. Francois Oubida, Ambassador of Burkina-Faso and Chair ADC TICAD Core Committee; and officials from; JETRO, Yokohama City, and Kobe City.

The forum which brought together at least 150 participants provided a platform to share insights for possible areas of business collaboration between Japanese and African Business communities in the build up to TICAD VI Summit in Nairobi. His Excellency Ambassador Maina also took the opportunity to brief the participants on the status of Kenya's preparedness for the Summit.

TICAD VI Summit will be the first TICAD forum to have a plenary session for serious discourse between the Private Sector and Heads of State and Government. The summit so far has elicited huge interest from the Japanese Business community, with close to 100 Japanese companies already registered for participation in the Japan Fair on the margins of the Summit.
