H.E. Ambassador S.K. Maina gives his remarks during the seminar

The Kenya Tourism Board supported by Kenya Embassy in Japan held Media Forum Japan on 28th September 2016 at the Kenya Embassy. Tourist arrivals from Japan to Kenya steadily increased from 2008 to 2012 but in 2013, the numbers started falling due to negative information that has been portrayed about Kenya.

The recent hosting of the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI), among other major conferences in Nairobi has raised the profile of the destination in Japan and around the world. KTB held the Media Forum Japan to leverage on this positivity and promote Kenya's diverse tourism product offering.

KTB recognizes the major role played by media in building the image of the destination. KTB intends to work closely with the media in Japan by consistently updating them on new destination information and encourage them to write positive stories about Kenya.

It is in this regard that KTB conducted a media forum in order to update the media in Japan on the new developments in the destination, increase destination awareness amongst key media in Japan, position Kenya as a high value destination in the minds of the Japanese media, rebuild the image of the destination and rebuild relationships with the media.

Ms. Wausi Walya – KTB Public Relations & Corporate Communications Manager makes destination presentation.
