H.E the Ambassador with Kenya Diaspora

On Sunday, Februarry 25th, Kenyan Marathon Team, once again stamped their authority that they are the team to watch during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games when Dickson Chumba reclaimed his title by winning the 12th edition of the 2018 Tokyo Marathon at a record time of 2hr 5min 30secs.
However, the jubilation by the large number of Kenyan Diaspora Led by H.E. Ambassoador Solomon Maina and Embassy staff, who had lined up along the Marathon course to the finish line as early as 8:00 a.m, was almost over shadowed by the huge Cheering home crowd, when the Japanese national Marathon Champion, Yuta Shitara, made a surprise sprint past Kenyan duo of Amos Kipruto and Gideon Kipkeker in the final stages of the race. He finished second at record time of 2:06:10 thus setting a new Japanese national record and also denying Kenya, a fiesta of a 1, 2, 3 finish.
Kipruto finished 3rd and was timed at 2:06:33 and Kipketer, fourth at (2:06:47) respectively. The defending champion Wilson Kipsang failed in his mission to set a new world record after he dropped after 15km mark. In the women’s category, Ms. Helah Kiprop, the 2015 World Marathon silver medalist finished fifth (2 hr 28min 58secs). The race was won by Ethiopian Birhane Dibaba.
