The Japanese Secretariat of the Headquarters for the Tokyo 2020 and Paralympic Games, Cabinet Secretariat on Saturday 23rd February 2019 held its first ‘HOST TOWN SUMMIT 2019 at Musashino University Ariake Campus. The summit brought together over one hundred (100) Japanese ‘Host towns’ who have signed MOUs to host various National Teams in their preparations for Tokyo Olympics 2020 Olympics. Among the guests were, Hon.Yashitaka Sakurada, the Minister Incharge of Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games, several Mayors of ‘Host towns’ and members of Diplomatic Corps.
Invited guests drawn from IOC organising Committees from various countries, Sportmen and women and Japanese students from ‘Host towns’ made various presentations followed by a Roundtable discussion moderated by Ms.Mie Katsuno, Director, 2020 Tokyo Olympics & Paralympic Games Cabinet Secretariat.
Embassies present were encouraged by the Secretariat to establish ‘Country Houses’ in the Municipal Halls of ‘Host Towns’ to promote their country culture and build strong cultural bonds beyond 2020 Olympic Games.
The mission was represented by Mr.Paul M.Kaliih, Deputy Head of Mission and Ms.Kanako Sugai, Tourism Assistant.
