SAKURA (CHERRY BLOSSOM) TREE PLANTING CEREMONY AT THE KENYA EMBASSY, TOKYO, 20TH DECEMBER 2018

On 20th December 2018, H.E. S K. Maina, MBS together with three senior officials from Fukushima Prefectural Government (Mr. Takahiro Iinuma, Mr. Shuichi Suzuki & Ms. Kaori Fujiwara) planted two Sakura (Cherry Blossom) trees at the Kenya Embassy Grounds. The trees were donated by Hon. Masao Uhibori, Governor of Fukushima Prefecture as a symbol of friendship between Kenya and Fukushima.

H.E. recalled the 2011 disaster that hit Fukushima and noted that Kenya stood with Fukushima prefecture at that time by donating USD 1 million towards assisting the people of Fukushima following this unfortunate occurrence.
