MEETING BETWEEN THE CABINET SECRETARY FOR SPORTS, CULTURE AND HERITAGE, AMB. (DR.) AMINA MOHAMED AND HON. KOICHI HAGIUDA, MINISTER FOR EDUCATION, CULTURE, SPORTS, SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY OF JAPAN

Amb. (Dr.) Amina Mohamed, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage pays a courtesy call on Hon. Koichi Hagiuda, Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Sciences and Technology of Japan

On Saturday 24th July 2021, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage, Amb. (Dr.) Amina Mohamed paid a courtesy call on Hon. Koichi Hagiuda, Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Sciences and Technology of Japan.

Both Ministers acknowledged that the excellent relations between Kenya and Japan spans over many decades, and that sports and cultural exchanges between the two countries have contributed to this warm and cordial bond.
While acknowledging the impact of the COVID pandemic to global sporting events, the Cabinet Secretary expressed the appreciation of Team for the measure put in place by the Government of Japan to ensure the safe and secure participation of all participants of the TOKYO 2020 Olympic Games.

The meeting explored the training and capacity building opportunities that exist for Kenyan athletes in the areas of sports sciences and technology. The Ministers undertook to work very closely together, with a view to enable provision of more scholarships to promising athletes and their handlers in these areas.

The Cabinet Secretary also took the opportunity to extend an invitation to Hon. Koichi Hagiuda to attend the World Athletics U20 scheduled to be held from 17th to 22nd August 2021 in Nairobi, Kenya.
